Block Override Inspector scans published Gutenberg content for local block style values and compares them with the site’s WordPress design presets.
The report helps site administrators find:
- The content and block containing an override.
- The current local value.
- An exact matching preset, when one exists.
- The closest compatible font-size or spacing preset.
- Values with no matching preset or values that cannot yet be compared safely.
The plugin analyzes colors, typography, spacing, borders, and block-level custom CSS exposed by WordPress block attributes. It scans Posts, Pages, and public editor-enabled custom post types in batches, including nested blocks.
Block Override Inspector is read-only. It does not edit post content, replace values, create database tables, send telemetry, or connect to external services.

- Upload the
block-override-inspectorfolder to/wp-content/plugins/, or install the plugin ZIP from the WordPress Plugins screen. - Activate Block Override Inspector.
- Open Tools > Block Override Inspector.
- Select Scan Site to run a manual audit.

Does the plugin change block content?

No. Version 0.1.1 only reads block attributes and WordPress design presets.

Are scan results stored?

No. Results exist only for the current admin request and are not stored in the database.

Which content is scanned?

Published Posts, Pages, and public custom post types that use the WordPress editor are scanned. Nested Gutenberg blocks are included.

Why does a result say „Not compared yet“?

The value remains visible, but the plugin does not have a reliable matcher for that property or cannot compare its CSS unit safely.
