## Wopisanje

**Food Info Nutrition Labels** adds a clean, accurate nutrition label to your recipe
posts, calculated from your own country’s official food database.

Every country’s food scientists log regional variations in food, so a UK, Australian
or French recipe ends up with numbers that reflect a different nutritional outcome.
This plugin picks your national database automatically:

 * **United Kingdom**: CoFID (McCance & Widdowson’s)
 * **United States**: USDA FoodData Central
 * **Australia**: AUSNUT
 * **France**: Ciqual
 * **Denmark**: Frida

…and falls back across all five so nothing goes unmatched.

**Using WP Recipe Maker?** The block reads the ingredients straight off the recipe
card on the post. A button appears above the ingredients box when there is a card
to read, and it fills in the ingredients, the servings and the recipe name, so you
are not typing the same list twice. Once the figures are calculated you can send
them back into the card with one click, so your recipe card shows nutrition worked
out from national data rather than estimated.

**How it works.** Add the „Food Info Nutrition Labels“ block to a recipe, paste
your ingredient list (or pull it from your recipe card), choose servings and your
country, and click Calculate. You get a full label, per serving and per 100 g, that
you can publish as-is. The nutrition is worked out once, when you click Calculate,
and saved into the post, so your page loads stay fast and never depend on an outside
service.

**Free.** No account, no API key, no per-recipe cost.

Powered by the same engine behind [Food Info](https://food-info.org/recipe-nutrition-calculator).

### External services

This plugin connects to the Food Info API at food-info.org to turn your ingredient
list into a nutrition label.

When it runs: only in the editor, at the moment you click „Calculate nutrition“
on the block. The label is then saved into your post, so nothing is sent when a
visitor views your published page.

What is sent: the ingredient text you type, the number of servings, and the country
you select. No account, API key, or personal data is sent or required.

Why it is needed: to match your ingredients against the national food databases
and return the calculated label.

This service is provided by Food Info. By using the block you agree to its terms
and privacy policy:

## Instalacija

 1. Install and activate the plugin.
 2. Edit a recipe post and add the **Food Info Nutrition Labels** block.
 3. Paste your ingredients (one per line), pick servings and your country, and click**
    Calculate nutrition**.
 4. Publish. The label renders on the page. It lists the national food database(s)
used; an optional „Nutrition by Food Info“ credit link can be switched on per block(
    off by default).

## FAQ

### Is it really free?

Yes. No account, no API key, no per-recipe charge.

### Does it slow down my site?

No. The nutrition is calculated once, when you click Calculate in the editor, and
stored in the post. Visitors see a static label, with no outside calls on page load.

### Which countries are supported?

The UK, US, Australia, France and Denmark each map to their national food database;
other countries use USDA FoodData Central as the default. More national databases
are being added.

### How accurate is it?

Ingredients are matched deterministically against curated national food data. A
line the engine isn’t fully sure about is flagged so you can double-check before
publishing.

### Does it add a link to my published pages?

Only if you ask it to. The credit link is off by default and nothing about the plugin
changes if you leave it off.

If you do switch it on for a label, new labels you add afterwards will include it
too, so you are not repeating the same click on every recipe. The editor tells you
the moment that happens. You can turn it off for any single label, or switch the
default off entirely under Settings Writing — and once you have set it there, that
choice sticks and crediting another label will not quietly undo it. Labels you have
already published are never changed retroactively.

The label always names the national food database the figures came from, whether
or not the credit is on. That is factual attribution of the data source, not a promotion,
and it is what makes the numbers checkable by your readers.

## Changelog

#### 0.1.10

 * Once the nutrition is calculated, you can put the figures straight into your
WP Recipe Maker card with one click, so the card and the label agree instead
of showing two different sets of numbers. It only writes the nutrients your copy
of WP Recipe Maker actually uses, only when you click the button, and the fields
stay editable afterwards exactly as before.

#### 0.1.9

 * If you use WP Recipe Maker, the block can now take the ingredients straight from
the recipe card on the post. A button appears above the ingredients box when
there is a card to read, and it fills in the ingredients, the servings and the
recipe name. You can still paste a list by hand, and nothing changes if you use
a different recipe plugin or none at all.
 * Ingredient group headings such as „For the sauce“ are left out, and preparation
notes such as „finely chopped“ are ignored, so only the amounts and the foods
   are measured.
 * Fixed the Food Info credit toggle sitting flush against the Calculate button
   in the editor.

#### 0.1.8

 * New labels now take their reference intakes from the language your site is set
to, instead of always starting on the United Kingdom’s. A US site gets the FDA
daily values, an Australian site gets the Australian ones, and the country picker
on the block still overrides it whenever you want a particular one.
 * Labels where you never picked a country by hand will follow your site language
too, so on a non-UK site the percentages will change. They had been read against
UK figures until now, which is the reason for the change. Any label where you
did choose a country keeps it.

#### 0.1.7

 * The first time you credit Food Info on a label, new labels will start including
the credit too, so you do not have to switch it on for every recipe. The editor
tells you when this happens and where to change it. Labels you have already published
are never altered, you can still turn the credit off for any single label, and
if you switch the default off under Settings Writing that choice is remembered
   and will not be undone.

#### 0.1.6

 * Fixed the Servings label wrapping mid-word in the editor, and the credit preview
   overlapping the text above it.
 * Refreshed the screenshots and added one showing the block in the editor.

#### 0.1.5

 * The label now shows which recipe it is for. Enter a name on the block, or leave
it blank and the post title is used.

#### 0.1.4

 * The optional credit link now carries a marker identifying it as coming from this
plugin, so we can tell how many visits it actually sends. The marker records
which link was clicked and nothing about who clicked it.

#### 0.1.3

 * Corrected the list of supported national databases. Canada (CNF) and Finland (
Fineli) were offered in the country picker but hold no data yet, so selecting
them returned US or UK figures under a Canadian or Finnish heading. Both are
removed until their data is live.
 * Denmark (Frida) is now listed and labelled properly. It was already supported
but missing from the country list.
 * The optional credit setting now shows you exactly what the credit looks like
before you turn it on, and explains plainly that the plugin behaves identically
   if you leave it off.

#### 0.1.2

 * Calculating a recipe now retries automatically if the service is momentarily
busy, instead of reporting a failure.
 * Clearer message when the service is under load, so a short wait is distinguishable
   from a real problem.

#### 0.1.1

 * Renamed to Food Info Nutrition Labels.
 * The front-end credit link is now opt-in per block (off by default); the label
always lists the food database(s) used.

#### 0.1.0

 * Initial release: region-native per-serving and per-100 g nutrition labels.
